Chapter 40: Jean Broody vs. Bradley Jackson ~ When suppressed desires explode… Voices!
***
Outside Jean’s bedroom door, Bradley leaned against the door, breathing deeply in and out. That voice of damnation, doom, hellfire…he couldn’t hear anything past his father’s screams in his head. He breathed harder, trying to prevent the panic that assailed his senses. This time, he just knew he was going to be hit with a full-blown attack. God, not now, he screamed silently. He couldn’t allow himself to be hit with a full panic attack, Bradley thought desperately as his breath began to come out harshly and erratically like a fish out of water. He went down the stairs as steadily and quickly as he could, and then headed for the kitchen and Jean’s well-stocked cellar.
Bradley grabbed a fresh bottle of whiskey, opened it, and took a long swing. Before the alcohol had finished disappearing down his throat, he was pouring more into his mouth. Bradley turned to go to his room with only one strategy in mind: drown out his father’s voice and that panic attack. He locked the door and then sank down to the floor right beside the door, clutching the bottle of whiskey as though it was his lifeline. He needed one…and that was all he had.

“Open the door, Bradley,” Jean called out after his third knock on Bradley’s locked door. Two hours after their encounter, and he still felt shaken. “Brad?” He called out again when he didn’t get any response from the other side of the door.
Jean leaned his forehead against the door. He felt drained. But then, he’d never fucked so hard and so long ever. He’d behaved like a teen who had been given a pussy for the very first time. Hell, even his balls ached and his dick felt sore. He’d fucked as if he wasn’t going to get such a privilege anymore. And it had been the most amazing fuck of his life. What he needed at that moment was a good rest. Well, right after he was able to confirm that Bradley was okay, Jean told himself. He knocked on the door again.
“I’ll have to use my master key to open this door if you don’t let me in, buddy,” Jean announced. “Don’t let me resort to that.” He added tiredly and waited with his forehead against the door. “Bradley?”
Inside the room, Bradley took another swing from the bottle and kept staring at a point above the 3-seat lounger in the room. He couldn’t believe he’d been drinking for hours but still couldn’t get drunk. At least the voice declaring damnation on his soul wasn’t so loud anymore. He knew that those memories and hurtful words would never leave him. Ever. And he’d come to accept it since there was nothing he could do about that. But he could choose who to see at any point in time. And the last person he wanted to face at that moment, was Jean. Not only did he feel mortified for his shameful and wanton behaviour hours earlier, but he also felt so dirty. No, he couldn’t face Jean. At least not so soon after…whatever that was.
“I need to be alone right now, Jean,” Bradley called out in a voice that sounded dead even to his own ears.
“I just want to see for myself that you’re okay, Bradley.”
“I’m okay. Not going to kill myself or anything if that’s what you’re worried about.” Bradley said. “Definitely not before those crooked officials are caught and brought to justice. I’ll see you in the morning.” He took another swing from the bottle.
“You sure?”
“Positive.”
“All right. Tomorrow then.”

“Bradley?” Jean called as he entered the living area. He started to unbutton his shirt as he headed for Bradley’s door.
The house seemed too quiet, Jean thought. He’d been called to the hospital for an emergency surgery around four a.m. He hadn’t bothered to wake Bradley up because he didn’t want to disturb his sleep. But it was already past noon so it was strange not to see his houseguest walking around like he usually did.
“Brad?” Jean knocked when he got to Bradley’s door but got no response. “The fuck?” He swore when he tried to open the door and realized it was still locked.
Jean bent to peep through the keyhole and noticed that the key was inside the lock, indicating that Bradley was inside the room. Mumbling to himself, Jean went up to his study, grabbed a master key, and then went back down to open Bradley’s door. The scene that met his eye shocked the hell out of him. A naked Bradley was on the floor, right behind the door, fast asleep.
“Christ!” Jean gasped, staring at the empty bottle of whiskey lying beside Bradley. He knew that bottle had been an unopened bottle. “Is he trying to kill himself?” He muttered as he crouched beside Bradley and felt for his pulse. Jean let out a sigh of relief when he felt a strong pulse, indicating that Bradley was okay. “Hey?” He lightly tapped Bradley on the cheek. “Wake up, fucker.”
Bradley groaned and stretched. Then he turned and went back to sleep. Jean stifled his laughter as he reached out to roll Bradley onto his back.
“Time to wake up, buddy,” Jean said. “Come on…”
“Leave me alone…” Bradley whimpered as he squinted up at Jean. “I just want to sleep.”
“You’ve slept enough, soldier.” Jean pulled him up into a sitting position. “You need to take a shower and eat something. God, you reek.”
“Fuck you,” Bradley muttered, turning himself so that his back could rest against the wall. He stretched out one leg, bent the other, and rested his head on his knee. “Fuck, my head hurts.”
“Of course your head would hurt.” Jean chuckled. “What were you thinking, downing an entire bottle of whiskey? You’re lucky this is good stuff. Whatever ache you’re feeling in that brainless head of yours, is nothing, trust me.” He rasped, getting to his feet. “I’ll be right back with something for that well-deserved hangover. Don’t go back to sleep.” With that stern order, Jean left the room.
“Fuck.” Bradley muttered. So he’d drank the entire bottle huh? What a loser he was. In his haste to tune out that condemning voice, he’d succeeded in doing something he’d never done in his life. Get stupidly drunk. He heard the door open but he didn’t raise his head.
“Here. Take this. You should be good as new in the next five minutes.” Jean gave Bradley two small red tablets and a glass of water. Bradley swallowed them and then gave the glass back to Jean, who plopped down beside him on the floor. “Tell me your intention wasn’t to kill yourself.” Jean drawled.
“I just wanted the voice to stop.” Bradley groaned without much thought.
Jean froze. “What voice?” He asked as casually as he could manage.
Bradley turned his head to look at the man beside him. He could tell that Jean was trying not to look worried. The man probably thought he had a mad person on his hands.
“Relax,” Bradley muttered. “I’m not crazy or anything. It’s just that I keep hearing my father in my head, screaming damnation and hellfire. I just wanted to drown him out by getting drunk.”
“Fuck!” Jean whispered, looking away.
“Yeah. Got my own internal headphones. And they sure ain’t playing no hip hop.” Bradley grunted as he got to his feet. “Fuck, I think that glass of water only recharged the alcohol inside.”
Jean burst into laughter despite himself. “You’re an idiot.” He stared up at Bradley. “Need help?”
“No, I’m good.” Bradley moved away from the wall and began to walk but stopped. “Damn, my arse hurts.” He groaned. “You did a number on me, you asshole.”
“You asked for it.” Jean retorted with a smirk. “You could have tapped out, you know… I’d have left that arse alone.” He drawled.”
“Tapping out wasn’t an option,” Bradley grunted. “Dude, that was some…” His voice trailed off into a moan. “You can lay some serious pipe, Man. Dayum!” Bradley said in a voice filled with so much amazement and respect Jean burst into laughter.
Jean didn’t know what to say to that heartfelt compliment so he said nothing. He simply watched with a small smile on his face as Bradley walked slowly towards the bathroom. At least Bradley wasn’t acting weird and uncomfortable around him as he’d feared he would. Jean was happy about that.
“After your shower, I’ll apply something to soothe that ravaged asshole,” Jean called after him and then laughed when Bradley flipped him off without even turning around. “A soak won’t be a bad idea.” He called out as he rose to his feet.
