Never Just Friends

Hanna’s Reflection

Hanna’s Reflection

As the evening wore on, Emily and Jacob found themselves lost in conversation. The café’s soft lighting and the quiet hum of other conversations created an intimate backdrop for their own growing connection.

Jacob leaned forward, his eyes never leaving hers. “I’ve been wanting to say this for a while. You’ve been so patient with me, and I feel like I’m finally figuring things out. You’re not just a friend to me, Emily. You mean more than that.”

Emily’s heart fluttered, a rush of warmth flooding her chest. She had always admired Jacob, his quiet strength and sincerity. But hearing him say it out loud, confessing his feelings, made it all feel real.

“I’ve been feeling the same way,” Emily admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “I think I’ve always liked you, but I was too scared to admit it.”

Jacob’s grin deepened, and he reached across the table, taking her hand in his. “Well, it’s about time we did something about it, don’t you think?”

Emily smiled, her nerves fading as she squeezed his hand. “Yeah. I think it is.”

They spent the rest of the evening wrapped in easy conversation, their connection growing stronger with every word. The world outside seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them in their own bubble of newfound affection.

As the night came to a close, Jacob stood and offered Emily his hand. “Would you like me to walk you home?”

Emily nodded, her heart swelling. “I’d like that very much.”

They walked through the quiet streets, the cool night air adding a sense of calm to the excitement buzzing inside Emily. Jacob’s hand never left hers, and as they reached her doorstep, he turned to her with a gentle smile.

“I’m glad we finally talked,” Jacob said, his voice low and sincere.

“Me too,” Emily replied, her gaze lingering on his. “This is just the beginning, right?”

Jacob’s smile softened, and he leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. “The very beginning.”

As Emily watched him walk away, her heart felt lighter than it had in a long time. She had taken a step into something new, something exciting, and she couldn’t wait to see where it would lead.

Emily and Jacob met at a small café downtown, the atmosphere cozy and intimate.

“This place is nice,” Emily said, glancing around as they sat at a corner table.

“Yeah,” Jacob said, smiling. “I come here when I need to think.”

Emily raised an eyebrow. “What do you need to think about?”

Jacob hesitated before replying. “A lot of things. Life, school, the future… you.”

Emily blinked, her cheeks flushing. “Me?”

Jacob nodded, his expression serious. “I like you, Emily. I have for a while.”

Emily’s heart raced as she met his gaze. “I like you too.”

Jacob’s smile widened, his hand brushing against hers on the table.
